Andrew started riding waves at Seabright beach where he rode matts and styrofoam belly boards. He progressed to surfing at Cowells in the late 60's. He was in the surf club at Mission Hill Junior High, with woodshop teacher Al Mitchell as the group's mentor. Andrew's been riding Joe Thomas surfboards for over 20 years. He's a regular at Steamer Lane, along with his wife Dori. The connection between surfing and the art we make is very direct. Through sailing, fishing and surfing we gain experiences on the water that translate into art about water.
